This multi-purpose facility is located in Glendale, Arizona where its home to NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, Annual VIZIO Fiesta Bowl and host of 2015 Superbowl XLIX.  The 63,400-seat stadium (expandable to 72,200) has taken great efforts to gain certification as a qualified Leadership Energy and Environmental Design Operations and Maintenance facility (LEEDS O&M).  Many measures have been instilled to meet this accomplishment including utilization of energy efficient fixtures, such as LED and induction lighting. 

When it was time for the University of Phoenix Stadium to select an energy efficient light fixture for its ingress/egress central walkway that leads spectators into and out of the stadium, the stadium designers in conjunction with RC Lurie (Rayon Lighting’s Arizona Sales Representative) turned to Rayon Lighting’s T732IND Direct/Indirect Induction Canopy Luminaire.  This portion of the stadium spans over several floors and provides great illumination for easy and safe walking.  The stadium utilizes 116 units of the T732IND with an 80 watt Induction system.  The T732IND’s stylistic appearance is a great compliment to the state of the art stadium.  It provides even light distribution for both up light and down light illumination.  This is a great feature for evening events where bidirectional lighting will increase safety and security measures.  Additionally, the 5000K color temperature will provide a day light appearance even after sundown.  The fixture’s polycarbonate impact resistant lens provides great protection against lamp and fixture breakage.  RC Lurie was essential in fixture selection that met the stadium’s design and efficiency requirements. 

 

This energy efficient lighting solution will provide great benefit to The University of Phoenix Stadium by providing 50% in energy savings compared to inefficient metal halide light source.
